OSHA 3085 - Principles of Scaffolding

This course covers the requirements for construction and the safe construction and use of scaffolding using the OSHA construction scaffold standard as a guide. Course topics include hazards associated with scaffold design, assembly, disassembly and use, types of scaffolds, determining scaffold capacity, employee qualifications and training, and maintenance, repair, and inspection requirements. Students will participate in workshops to reinforce concepts of safe scaffolding. Upon course completion students will have the ability to identify the types of scaffolds and their components, determine safe assembly, use, and disassembly, and recognize common violations of OSHA Standards.

Notes:	Class will end at appoximately 5PM on Thursday. EKU OTIEC - Inclement Weather Policy Due to contact hour requirements from the U.S. Department of Labor, the EKU OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) may continue to hold training classes even when EKU is delayed or closed for inclement weather. The OTIEC holds courses throughout an 8-state region, oftentimes on a contractual basis. In inclement weather, the OTIEC Administrator will evaluate the situation and discuss options with the Lead Instructor for the class. Once a decision has been made, the Center for Career & Workforce Development Director will be notified as well as the OTIEC staff. Staff members will be available to inform participants. Students are always informed to make their own decisions concerning safe travel. In winter months, OSHA staff will request a cell phone number for each participant so communication can be established if an alternate schedule is necessary.
