Due to contact hour requirements from the U.S. Department of Labor, the EKU OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) may continue to hold training classes even when EKU is delayed or closed for inclement weather. The OTIEC holds courses throughout an 8-state region, oftentimes on a contractual basis.
In inclement weather, the OTIEC Director will evaluate the situation and discuss options with the Lead Instructor for the class. Staff members will be available to inform participants. Students are always informed to make their own decisions concerning safe travel. In winter months, OSHA staff will request a cell phone number for each participant so communication can be established if an alternate schedule is necessary.
