This course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in the construction industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA Construction Standards, construction safety and health principles, and special emphasis on those areas in construction which are most hazardous. Upon course completion, students will have the ability to define construction terms found in the OSHA Construction Standards, identify hazards which occur in the construction industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of the OSHA Construction Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program.

Students must pass a test to successfully complete this class

Notes:

Class will end at appoximately noon on Friday. Testing Policy: To successfully complete the standards course, the student trainer must pass a knowledge test. A Letter of Attendance will be issued to students who do no pass the test or re-test. The Knowledge Test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. Student must achieve a minimum of 40 out of 50 points. Students will have one opportunity to re-test as necessary. EKU OTIEC - Inclement Weather Policy Due to contact hour requirements from the U.S. Department of Labor, the EKU OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC) may continue to hold training classes even when EKU is delayed or closed for inclement weather. The OTIEC holds courses throughout an 8-state region, oftentimes on a contractual basis. In inclement weather, the OTIEC Administrator will evaluate the situation and discuss options with the Lead Instructor for the class. Once a decision has been made, the Center for Career & Workforce Development Director will be notified as well as the OTIEC staff. Staff members will be available to inform participants. Students are always informed to make their own decisions concerning safe travel. In winter months, OSHA staff will request a cell phone number for each participant so communication can be established if an alternate schedule is necessary.
